Duo Esplanade at Florida Flute Association!

Having a fantastic start to 2016! My clarinetist Katsuya Yuasa and I will be performing beautiful yet non-standardized pieces by Polish composer Antoni Szalowski and Eastman faculty David Liptak at Florida Flute Association on this Friday, January 29th at 4.30pm. We are very much looking forward to being in Orlando and sharing some music!

Cheers,

Ayça

P. S. We recorded couple movements from the Szalowski’s Duo as our New Year’s project and they will be on YouTube very soon!

Duo Esplanade Touring in Ohio and Michigan

I am delighted to share that I will be touring in Ohio and Michigan as part of Duo Esplanade from November 20th to 29th!

The best thing about being a musician for me is being able to create opportunities to reunite with the wonderful people we miss. This very special tour will take me back to my first couple years in the United States. After living in different parts of the country for more than two years I will be in Michigan again, collaborating with my very first American friends, visiting my former professors and other missed friends.

Aiming to create a balance between romantic and variety of contemporary styles, our program will include works by Muczynski, Dorff, Colquhoun, Kovacs, Doppler, Ravel, and two newly commissioned pieces by American composers and dear friends, Kevin Wilson and Matthew Weaver. Pianist Krystal Thomas will also join us as the guest artist and make our performances even more exciting!

Winner of the Boston Woodwind Society Competition!

I am very excited and humbled to announce that I was chosen as the winner of Boston Woodwind Society 2015 Doriot Dwyer Flute Merit Award Competition.

Several flutists from different countries participated in the competition. As another challenge, repertoire choice was left to the competitors. Agreeing to play with the amazing pianist Deborah Emery, who regularly plays with Paula Robison, I decided to play Chant de Linos by Andre Jolivet. During the competition, I felt very energetic and strongly connected to the music. Once I was done playing I felt very happy, grateful, and satisfied.

Few hours later, I found a voice message in my phone, informing me about the result. I was extremely happy in a long time and thought, what a nice gift before I leave Boston…

Stay tuned,

Ayça
